William R. Poole Fund
William was a volunteer marshal for the Classic and lost his life in an automobile accident while en route to the 2006 tournament. The WILLIAM R. POOLE FUND, established by his family through Atlanta Classic Foundation Charities, Inc. (ACFC*), stands as a tribute to his legacy. It is a testament to his strong character, exceptional work ethic, service to the community, uncompromised leadership and love of children.
Celeste, William's widow, will administer the fund that supports the program to identify and develop leadership potential among youth in metro-Atlanta through various activities, which will include sports mentoring programs, educational support, exposure to professional opportunities and personal development activities.
THE GOALS ARE:- To create an understanding of leadership
- To foster and develop leadership skills
- To encourage the pursuit of academic excellence
- To promote community service
- To create a network of students who will serve as role models and gradually create positive change within their communities
